Following is the video message by the Honorary Adviser of Queen's College Old Boys' Association and Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Council of Social Service, Mr CHUA Hoi-wai, to Queen's College 160th Anniversary (QC160) Student Learning Celebration this morning (August 5):
Principal Leung (Ms Yvetta Ruth LEUNG), boys of Queen's College, ladies and gentlemen,
I'm very happy to have this opportunity to talk to you, especially after two other events (QC160 Launching Ceremony and Open Days) were cancelled due to the pandemic. Despite speaking to you virtually, I still feel a strong sense of homecoming.
What brings us and indeed glues us together today is the love for our alma mater and the strong determination under our school motto ("Labor Omnia Vincit"), which is "work conquers all" in English. So, today is not only the last assembly of this long school year, but also a magic moment to celebrate that we have conquered and overcome hurdle after hurdle with hard work in the past seven months.
Congratulations to everyone who have put extra efforts to honour our school for this another milestone. I know many of you have been working closely with classmates and teachers in last few weeks to prepare performances as gifts for QC. I look forward to watching them later, and I am sure there is a lot of love for our school behind them.
Love is never a word exclusive for your girlfriends, but also your parents, siblings, QC fellows and in fact the community. It is love and passion for our community that sustain our society, and put so many of your seniors serving Hong Kong today. I hope that you would join our alumni and continue to work hard for the well-being of our beloved society and its people.
Lastly, I wish you well and good health in spite of the turbulent times, and we are so eager to see you home soon. Thank you very much.
