Following is the video message by the Honorary President of Queen's College Old Boys' Association and Senior Vice President (Health and Life Sciences) and Dean of Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine of Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, Prof Joseph SUNG Jao-yiu, to Queen's College 160th Anniversary (QC160) today (May 13):
Ladies and gentlemen,
I would like to offer my heartfelt congratulations for my alma mater, Queen's College, for the 160th Anniversary Birthday Celebration. I am most delighted to join you on this happy occasion from afar. Right now, I am living in Singapore. Although I have not been able to join the Launching Ceremony scheduled in January and I am not physically being with you at this time either, I would like to celebrate the birthday of our school for such a long history.
After months of lockdown, we can finally see each other, greet each other, hug each other and celebrate this important milestone of our alma mater together. COVID-19 has changed the whole world. In this post-pandemic world, things will never be the same. But, Hong Kong has gone through many changes before, including the plague over a century ago and also SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome) in 2003. All these infectious disease outbreaks have made significant changes to our society, our nation and indeed the whole world.
However, Queen's College will still stand and be the same as the beacon of education in many, many generations. I am sure our QC boys will continue to honour the school, be educated and lead the society and our country in many ways for the years and decades to come. So, I offer my heartiest congratulations to everyone in Queen's College and everyone who graduated from this College for many successful years to come. Happy birthday!
